What is an open-book examination?

Open book examinations enable you to sit your NEBOSH assessment on your own, usually in your own home or another safe and suitable location where you can concentrate. In a NEBOSH open book examination, you will have up to 24 hours to complete your paper – though you should be able to complete the examination in 4-5 hours. After successful completion of the examination, there would be an online video interview to verify that the exam is submitted is your own.

What will the format of the open-book examination be?

The open book examination will begin by giving you a scenario. This will typically describe a realistic organization or workplace with an outline of normal operational activities and worker behavior. The scenario may go on to outline a developing situation, such as an incident or safety intervention. You may be asked to imagine that you hold a specific role, such as a safety manager, in the workplace described.

How will you access and submit my open-book examination?

You will use the NEBOSH online examination platform, all guidelines are available and completely understandable once registration is done all materials and guidelines will be provided by the learning institute.

Where do you complete your examination?

You can complete your open book examination at home or another suitable location. To allow you to concentrate during your examination you must prepare a comfortable space to work.

What is the purpose of the interview after the open-book exam?

The purpose of the closing interview is to confirm that the work you have submitted is your work and that you did not have assistance in completing your assessment. The Interviewer may ask you questions based on your open-book examination.

Will IGC-2 (Practical Assessment) be an open-book examination?

No. Where safe to do so IGC-2 will continue as an invigilated, paper-based practical examination.

When will the result be announced?

Results will be issued up to 50 working days from the examination date and sent to the email address registered.
